Sure, do it for awhile and save some serious money for when you no longer want to be single with no kids.

Yes, of course it's possible. In fact, lots of people do it, both men and women. It can be pretty good, esp. if you sign up with a company that lets you take "home time" any place you want to. Good luck with it!

Hell, I moved out of the firehouse in 1995 and said goodbye to my employer and spent the next 11 years living out of my trucks. Finally settled down with a place of my own last summer.
Of course, now 47, middle-aged, and over-weight, don't think the opportunities are gonna be great for marriage and kids, LOL!

Oh no!
I have a life outside the truck. Visit family. Take vacations. I kept a car at our PA terminal so I could visit friends and family, just never had the need to pay rent for a f/t domecile since all I ever did was stop for a few days per month and either sleep in the truck or use a bed at mom's, dad's, sis's, cousin's etc.
The pay is good and if you figure you are saving $750 in rent somewhere, its easy to justify treating yourself to a car rental and a hotel room in LA, Miami, Chicago, DC, Nashville, New Orleans, the Grand Canyon, Denver, (you get the idea, LOL!) for 3 nights when ready to take a break.
Other than family obligations to help care for an elderly parent in Maryland, I tried to give myself that 1 day off for 6 days out per week about every 3 or 4weeks.
ENJOY the freedom the travel gives you, don't coop yourself up in the truck!
3 days car rental $100
3 days nice hotel $300
3 days shows/dinners/sightseeing $100.
Don't get me wrong, I obviously didn't do this every time, but several times a year? you bet!

IF I were a good saleman/entreprenuer, I would really push hard to start a car rental chain exclusively for truckers at major metropolitan area truck stops. Think of the wasted time we spend on downtime sitting in a parking lot just 20 miles from some of the greatest cities in the world!

Not a bad idea. I wonder why the big truckstops haven't thought of this, they could probably keep 3 to 4 cars running daily. HMMM!

I've only seen a rental counter in one place, the T/A in Slidell, LA, just outside New Orleans. This would be a good forum question, are there other stops with car rentals? (in Ontario, California, its a cheap cab ride to the Ontario Airport to get a rental there, if you have a laptop, I imagine in some places you might be able to find a nearby Enterprise that will come get you - I used them for years in Marietta, GA outside Atlanta).

What you have described is right up my alley on what I would like to do.

Just give it time. When you start out, you are going to want to run, run, run. Your handle comes from that great song White Line Fever and it can be hard to make yourself slow down to enjoy the scenery when the boss or the paycheck seem to be urging you to hit that PTA button (projected time available) - they always want to know how soon after a delivery you will be ready to go for the next pick-up.
