I am seeing this more and more in truck driving job ads. Along with other incentives to work for said company such as more home time and top pay, they brag "fully operational gps tracking device on all trucks and trailers". Forgive me for being slow, but there is NO tracking device in my truck and i love every minute of it.
So what is up with this? Do YOU want to be tracked?

Well maybe it helps recover abandon or stolen trucks and trailers.. ya think..
Your obviously not looking at it from the owners point of view..crappiejunkie and gpsman Thank this. -
Do you run a Qualcomm or are you on paper logs?

You may not think you re bring tracked, but trust me if a trucking company wants to know where you re at they ll find out. Tracking truck and trailer helps companies maintain communication between you, and the shipper and consignee. Also with tracking, a dispatcher can plan you better by knowing what time you re expected to arrive and how many hours you ll have. Tracking also is beneficial since truck, trailer, and cargo theft is at an all time high. Plus it eliminate wasting time trying to find an empty in a Metropolitan area as well

Joetro, Raiderfanatic and poppapump1332 Thank this.

Doesn't bother me. It's their truck and the customer's product.
blairandgretchen Thanks this. -
I dunno lol -
I have driven trucks with no tracking at all and trucks with Qualcomm and People Net. I don't really care if my company knows where I am at. If I'm going to make money, I'm going to be just about where they think I should be anyway. I know that for some customers, being able to know where their freight is at is a big selling point in obtaining their business, especially hauling bulk liquid hazmat like I do. I would not, however, accept having a camera in my truck watching every move I make while in the drivers seat, as has been recommended by the NTSB.

Thats okay though lolloose_leafs, Joetro and Hammer166 Thank this.
