hi everyone im a wannabe and i very much want to be in this industry and i'll be 21 in about 3 months so super excited i already took the day off of my birthday to get my licensed renewed and my cdl permit i bet most 21 year olds dont have that in mind but im not much of a drinker and could care less to go out and get drunk on my 21st birthday. but anyways im from chicago suburbs and so far i really have millis in mind to work for but i really would like to know my options before i do pull the trigger. i would like to know what compaines have a terminal around the chicago area since i live in the suburbs parking a rig out here especially at home is not an options hell i get crap for my yamaha atv i sometimes ride up and down the street. so i would like to know companies that hire rookies especially that offer training and possibly have a terminal near the chicago area or around I294 and I90. i appreciate any feedback thank you.
what would be a good company for me?

Millis is your best bet, and one of the absolute best to get your start with.
-
Stick with Millis.
-
If you want to start your career off right, Millis is a good start.
-
Millis...they will do everything they can to make sure you are successful if you put forth the effort.
-
and stop riding your atv up & down the street, that's what the trails are for!! You're just muckin up the system for the rest of us who put our bikes on a trailer!!
-
Parking is something YOU are going to have to figure out. And you might wanna get on that a.s.a.p.
Most companies don't mind you taking the truck home with you on "home time", but they wanna be assured that their investment is safe too...some even make you take pictures and show other forms of "proof" that your truck is safe and won't get vandalized or towed.
Chicago is THE main hub in the Midwest, so there are tons of companies with terminals there...you might have to find one you like, and commute to/from the terminal on home time. -
Go LTL, Beverage, or Food Service and you won't need a place to park a truck.
-
The majority says millis so I would go with them. You need to keep in mind as a 21 yr old your choices will be limited. Many require 23 to be the starting age.
-
Get on the dock of a LTL then upgrade once your old enough.
The Challenger Thanks this.
