Some states are doing a troops to trucks program where the drive test is waived.
I don't know all the details. Start with a search of 49 CFR 383.77 -
i wouldnt be an O/O right off the bat...IMO, you need to try trucking first. a lot think they are gonna like it, but end up not...being an O/O takes A LOT of commitment...where company drivers go home for time off, as an O/O , you dont, you have to go home , maint the truck, etc etc...it doesnt end.
BrenYoda883 and badhabit2332 Thank this. -

I know i can just take have rhe test waived but i prefer to do the actual training and ha e more knowledge on the truck and also know dot requirements and stuff

You can still go with a training company. But do yourself a favor and get the license without becoming indentured to the company for the cost of the license.

Some of the trucks where I work at started having problems with the new air pollution controls at 24 months old. It is not that uncommon for a truck to be down three to four weeks waiting to get into the shop then waiting for parts to come in. Being an owner operator in this environment is insane the way the dealer repair shops' are backed up.

I would like to do that but i do not have the funds to pay for a cdl course i also have never drove a truck with a sleeper and all i have pulled is low boys
-
I was going to give it time before deciding to be a o/o but i just wanted to get the details of being one and if i decided to go that route how would i do it
