I'm looking for a bit more home time. I currently only home three days a month. Is anyone aware of good home on weekend or 5 days off a month OTR gigs? I confirmed with a driver living out of Atlanta Georgia I could be home every Saturday and Sunday with option to skip a weekend if I want with first express. However knight transportation I hear is ok company they use pay scale though and have a regional gig going atlanta to Texas to Nashville and just keep doing that triangle and sometimes other states. Any advice is appreciated if you happend to work for any of these company's please jot down something thank you ! Stay safe!
First express or Knight transportation

You live near Atlanta there should be local jobs where your at where you are home every night and off two days a week if you want more home time. You can apply to them they may turn you down due to your less then a year experience...then again they might not so it's worth a try. Local jobs pay more then OTR jobs do. Just giving you some food for thought.

Thanks for your imput. Any suggestions Avveritt? any names of locals in Atlanta. Funny I thought OTR pays more. I've hady CDL for 7 months now
Chinatown Thanks this. -
As far as local driving jobs in Atlanta goes it's the major transportation hub in the South. Norfolk Southern has a huge operation there so you got the intermodal side. You have the usual ltl companies there UPS, Old Dominion, ABF, etc. Pretty much every major trucking company has a terminal there regardless if it's ltl, otr, intermodal, tanker, flatbed, etc. not to mention the smaller trucking outfits as well.Last edited: Sep 18, 2014

Navajo Express has a dedicated route running to Jackson, TN every day and home every day. Pays $150.00 a day.
Cardinal Logistics has routes where you're home several times a week.
Hub Group runs intermodal.
Sunstate Carriers home most weekends.
Jordan Carriers - home weekends
Maverick - home weekends
Ozark Motor Lines - home most weekends
Decker Truck Line - Southeast regional
Lots of good tanker work around Atlanta.
First Express is probably OK. Personally, I wouldn't work for Averitt or First Fleet.
Once you have 12 months experience, look at A&R Transport and South East Carriers. A&R Transport has a hub in Atlanta and home most weekends and probably make about $65K.TruckrWnnaB Thanks this. -
Thank you Chinatown I remember when I first got my permit you were very helpful on my decision what company to start with and still helpful today I see.. Thank you very much I appreciate it. I see your Asian my fiancée is from the Philippines... Shes my main reason I need a bit more hometime but not too much because it's practical to make more with miles being only interested as a company driver. I like refrigerated mainly and don't mind dry van. I'm happy with Prime but I will continue to research and shop around a company I can retire with 4o1k. With this company I started with I've been able to save about $3,000 while splurging on home time. can't complain but my main goal is to rent a town home with 900 rent on it so it's actually worth paying every month and living in. At least 6 days home a month. Or a decent paying local gig anyways thanks again to everyone for the replies.. Don't let my username fool you. J k is for just kidding.. I might change it lol

I'm not Asian, but my wife is. She's Chinese. Several drivers that post on here have Philippine wives. One of the reasons I chose Las Vegas/Henderson to relocate to from Tennessee is because there is a pretty good Chinatown there for her to enjoy. Big $7.5 billion Asian themed resort/casino being built there on the strip. Our house is 10 minutes from the strip.
Be careful changing jobs. Have to keep the little future wife with a high standard of living. Check Old Dominion also.skyviper73 Thanks this. -

check out Big G Express. Excellent company and home every weekend. The thread linked above should answer many of your questions, or ask if you want to know anything specific.Chinatown Thanks this.
