good ole cobra 29. cheap simple, and works, you dont need a 300 mile radio. the cobra 29 should get 3-5 miles. plenty good enuf
JReding and Powder Joints Thank this. -
For the $ can't beat a cobra 29. Get some quality coax, and a decent antenna (I love my Wilson 2000 works great weather I am running my cobra 29 or 1 of my big radios)

Almost any brand/kind of radio is good for what you want...the the Cobra line of cb's are all really good ones. But like buying a good hunting rifle set-up.....almost any brand rifle will go bang...accuracy is more dependent on how much you spend on glass ( scope /mounting system). A cobra 29 will be a great one , but be sure to buy at least 18 feet of the good coax , (not the cheap stuff) , along with a good sturdy mounting system , and a really good antenna. I was partial to the Audio King antennas for years til the Wilson's came out...that's all I run now even since I retired and put my radio into my pick-up. Also make sure and get a good microphone...the RK-56 noise canceling ones are good , or the Astatic 636L , both of those are really good choices.

Dollar for Dollar it hard to beat Cobra radios. Can not over state the good quality antenna setup.

Cobra 29. They've been around a long time and have proven to be good radios. But like Powder Joints said, a good antenna system is important. Without it even a big radio has problem doing the job.
