Just looking for a few suggestions for companies as I start CDL school next week. I would like to make the right decision my first time around, as whatever company I start with I intend to stay with for a couple years to get some experience. Regional, dedicated, local, intermodal is what I have in mind. I am not locked in with Averitt or Schneider I just see some pretty good reviews with them. I would be glad to benefit from the years of experience on this forum. Thanks.

There is a thread on here dedicated to Schneider. Go check out that thread and see what they have to say, the good and bad. We started out at Schneider and went through their driving school. It was a really good school and a solid company. If you are planning on staying with a company for at least a year, then look into Prime. We went there after Schneider. They also have a thread dedicated to Prime on here. Starting pay is one of the best in the industry from what I can tell and they can train you also. Stay with them a year and you do not owe anything for the schooling. Something to think about as opposed topaying for school out of pocket. Best of luck!

Remember to ignore any "experience required" and apply anyway. For those local jobs, knock on some doors and ask for an application & interview.

    Southwestern Motor Transport
    Southeastern Freight Lines
    Tyson Foods
    Rich Logistics
    Maverick - home weekends
    Roehl - Texas regional
    JBS Carriers - Texas regional
    Epes Transport
Ozark Motor Lines - home weekends
ABF Freight System - home daily

Start the job applications the day school starts. This way you can sort through the job offers and start work the day you graduate.
