Yes, I have read every single "drug testing" thread. carefully.
And I've gone over what regs I can research, to the extent I know I'm "legally" okay -- but legally & practically are not the same matter. I've not had an accident in 20 years, only 2 tickets etc etc. Blood pressure, sugar, vision, hearing, BMI all that A-okay. Just one stupid necessary medication.
I have adhd which was pretty debilitating, until I was medicated for it 10 years ago. I am prescribed low-dose adderal -- which does NOT make me "high" or bug eyed teeth gritting etc. Had the same Dr. 12 years who supports my "driving ambition" and will issue an affidavit regarding my safety. Dr. does NOT feel it'd be beneficial to change or stop the med "Unless you think you're more employable as a vegetable"
My understanding is that LEGALLY, any time I am drug tested having a current written prescription and doctor's affidavit is OKAY. One question I have is how CURRENT does the Dr's affidavit need to be, annual? Or along the same lines as physical card?
Two things are unclear:
One, can you pass your DOT physical with the required CYA's? Does one supply this up front or when asked later?
Two, can one GET A JOB without having to LIE??
For starters, I totally suck at lying. Were I not confident I'm able to learn and do well at this trade, I'd not be considering it. And I think it's just plain WRONG to expect an employer to entrust me with a huge responsibility if I'm not dead cold honest . I don't mean shoot self in foot stupid, but if one has to pass DOT physicals and drug screens with CYA papers it seems real "DUH" obvious how could your employer NOT know? I'm good with above the boards on the square and expect the same from the other guy.
I knew a man who drives for UPS (they aren't a chump change outfit) who's got the same thing as me, and on the same medicine -- all on the up and up... If I still had his number I'd just ask him

Just make sure you're pulling a complete CYA, be as upfront and open with it as possible. Don't be solicitous but make sure they know (and only what they need to know, at that.)

First thing is to look up the med your taking and make sure it is not band by DOT the list changes from time to time.

The medicine, adderal, is a stimulant and would drug screen as amphetamine. But there is a paragraph UNDER that stating that medically necessary properly prescribed are acceptable with Dr. Statement of safely operating a CMV. It's not a "total ban" medication like methadone, or suboxone. Please correct me if I've gotten this wrong

I don't want to be an *** about this but why don't you take some time and get a DOT physical or at least meet with the doc to find out what his opinion is.
