ok i'm a student in the process of getting my cdl. and so far i've heard from quite a few companies. i'm not naive enough to buy all the bs but im fairly certain i want to go otr and possibly flatbed. right now i'm leaning towards TMC or Melton. and i was just wondering if you guys could share some opinions with a rookie.

Tmc is good from what I hear.
Puppage Thanks this. -
Good Choices.
Good Luck. -
Both very good companies, I heard TMC is stupid strict ... but also pay well and have super nice equipment.
-
I agree with woody also

That's two good choices so far.
Also look at :
System Transport
Halvor Lines
Decker Truck Line - [h=3]WESTERN FLATBED DECKER TRUCK LINE[/h]Our Western Division is our only true OTR division, running 48 states. More than 70% of the runs are west of Ohio. Flexible, reliable home time. -
Your in the right direction, TMC from what I hear has top notch training, but also strict.
Melton also has good things, I've heard from a few on here that miles aren't all there, but I think that may be because of driver error.
form your own opinion, and do plenty of research!

Do alot of research and find THE BEST FIT FOR YOU!
theres lots of company's, meaning lots of opportunities!
apply even at ones that say they require 1-2 years experience.
worse they say is NO. Cross them out and move on.
good luck!lcfd15 Thanks this. -
What about Maverick?

Transport National has a terminal in Youngstown, Ohio. They do flatbed and heavy haul and they take student drivers. If you ever thought about being trained on how to haul the big stuff you might want to give them a look. http://www.tntrans.com/Employment/Default.aspx

Yeah maverick has a very good student program. I drover for BTC but they aren't hiring anyone without OTR experience anymore. That might change in the future but for now they have a freeze on students. They do, however, hire with as little as three months verifiable OTR if you want to get your experience then head on over.
