I was always taught that after you fuel you pull forward to the line (if there is room or one there) and then you go inside and grab receipt, a quick sandwich, hot dog, urinate, etc.
but I see people who just park at the fuel island and then run away
given that they are usually Owner/ops and even work for some smaller carriers that why I ask if I was taught wrong (given that I was was taught by a "mega" carrier)
was I taught wrong? or something? fuel island manners

No, you weren't taught wrong. We are just a little more important than the rest of you. We want you to know how it feels when we get caught BEHIND YOU in the left lane doing 64 MPH. Frustrating isn't it.
SlowPoke44magnum Thanks this. -
No.. you're alright as long as you don't take forever inside

No. You are correct. Continue as you do, and know that your actions are what makes a courteous driver stand out.

remember not all drivers carry fuel cards so they have to go inside first to run a tcheck or comcheck express code at the register..still it's no excuse to just park at the fuel island if you're done fueling, pull forward.
semi retired semi driver, blairandgretchen, double yellow and 2 others Thank this. -
Most fuel wash windows and get rid of trash at the fuel island.. some do pre-trips or post-trips too and some need to go inside and wait inline to get pre-approvee for fuel then make their way back and get busy.. some if a lane is open some pull in fuel up and get ..
i try to figure my time there accordingly
