hi everyone im turning 21 in a few months and i wanted to know if my work experience would be a problem as i know some companies are picky. so to start with i began working at 13 at a summer job but was getting paid cash for the first 2 summers and did that summer job until i was 18 and i still go in a few times on my days off to this day. i then got a part time winter seasonal job at ups loading trucks that was up after the holidays. once i graduated high school in 2012 is when i had continuous work. after graduating i had a job at a factory but only for about 2 months cause i started college and i was required to work at a dealership as part of the automotive program i was in. i stayed at my first dealership for a year because of only 29 hrs max a week then in between that job found another part time job loading trucks but that job killed me 2am till about 7 and was still going to school and was not possible so i quit that job so after my first dealership found a better one that would give me full time and was union with benifits so i would be stupid not to take that job and i been here for about a year and a half. so what do you think will there be any problems. thank you for any help

OTR companies normally want 22, you can try, local would be a better bet, like a cement company, Here in Cal Robertson Ready Mix will hire you at 21 and train you also. Check out your local area you should find someone given enough searching.

From what you posted, you're a hard worker.
Pick your poison! The day you're 21, you can hit the road.

Since you want company CDL school, look at Prime Inc. flatbed division. As hard as you work, you would probably love flatbed trucking.

Great idea here. After you get some time in ( around 2 years) give GSF a call in Oak Brook , you don't mind a little work it seems. You could get on with them at say 25 years old, at 50 you could possibly retire from there , with a great retirement deal. I worked there for over 30 years, great job home every night , with pay upwards of 80,000 a year once you get some time in. Check them out.

If you live in the Chicago area just about EVERY company has a terminal or drop near you. And freight to get you home since lots of drivers hate going in and out of Chicago. Keep your options open and pick the best company for you, not the closest to the house.

You're too young for OTR and even line haul. And actually the age most companies hire at is 25.

When I was 21, I found me a farmer to drive for. You can drive a farm truck on a regular license as long as you stay local. The pay sucks, but you'll get valuable time behind the wheel.

Typically companies esp training companies take your school housing into consideration. (At least most reputable ones should.)
