I deliver home heating oil in ct. It pays pretty good but im seeking more knowledge in the trucking field. Does anyone know where there are 100,000/yr opportunities?
What's the highest paying field in the trucking industry?

Yes, FTS International, running sand or water in South Texas. I have several friends out of DFW down there. They all work 30 days and go home a week but there are several schedules available. Some guys from the East or West Coast work 2 or 3 months and take a month off. The guys working 30/7 schedules are making $130,000 to $150,000 a year. Hard to get on but being newer might work to your advantage. A decade of driving with three jobs in that period, they won't hire someone. Good Luck

Absolute highest paid folks in the entire industry are easily the ones that hang out at truck stops going truck to truck asking for money because they are out of gas.
On average they will make $10 for every three trucks that pass through. If you figure a busy TA in a big city will get maybe 3000 trucks in a 24 hour day, that is potentially an entire grand one can make if they can keep at it that long.
If you can do it in teams though that is still averaging $500 a piece with split hours. They do not have to follow any HOS and it is a whole lot easier than having to actually drive a truck.blacklabel, bubbagumpshrimp, MadeinMX and 2 others Thank this. -
What's the point in making six figures if you're never able to enjoy it?
you have to juggle income with quality of life. That being said, you won't find a equilibrium as a OTR driver. You'll either make six figures and never be home, or you'll have plenty of home time and struggle to pay bills. You have to broaden your horizons and investigate based on your personal needs. Also, you need to figure out whether you want to remain a company driver, or buy your own truck. If you want to remain a company driver, these are the best places to look:
Private fleets such as Wallmart and CVS.
Union fleets such as YRC, UPS, and a few others.
Spezialized hauling such as gas and oil. Prepare to never be home if you pick this fieldalready gone, doin' research and murdaduce Thank this. -
Sucks because I'm trying to find the right fit with being happy and making decent money. It almost seems impossible because the highest paying jobs treat u like ####. I have been hearing that people can make 100,000/yr Idk y. Sometimes I think they feed me ######## because they are miserable
