I am about to start trucking school in he next 2 weeks. I have been researching companies to start out with once I am finished. Does anybody know any good companies that are close to say corbin ky? I have looked at a lot of the big companies like werner schneider roehl and it seems the good outweighs the bad. I know the first year is going to suck. But I would like to find somewhere that makes getting my experience the least painful possible?
Any Good company to start with around southeast kentucky?

First year doesn't have to suck. Several good companies will hire you. Most you may not even hear about in CDL school. Submit several applications and start submitting them the first day of school. Ignore "experience required" on any trucking company websites and submit lots of applications.
FedEx Freight
Borden Dairy
Schneider Bulk(tanker)
Schneider (dedicated Walmart London, KY)
Reinhart Food Service
Indian River Transport
Magnum Companies

Most places that say experience required don't say anything about going out with a trainer. I would like to be with a trainer for at least a few weeks
-
Don't sell yourself short; a few weeks is way too much time with a trainer. Trust me, after about two weeks with a trainer, you'll be agitated beyond belief and will wonder what you've gotten yourself into. Driving a truck is really pretty simple. Maybe some lengthy training for hazmat/tankers, car hauling, or specialty hauling like those. Pulling vans, reefers, flatbed; two weeks is plenty.
If you've been to a CDL school, you don't need extended training. Those extended training periods are a sneaky way for companies to get teams in the trucks or trainers to pad their paychecks.
Either way, do what makes you comfortable, but you will see my point once you get on the road.Leftnut and TruckrWnnaB Thank this. -
