Hello everyone, I have a friend of mine who recently graduated from CRST and is currently under contract with them. He made the mistake of leaving them thinking the grad was greener on the other side. However, since leaving them he has been unable to find work. He has tried to go back to CRST, but they are not returning his calls. I have tried to help him as much as possible with leads, but I've exhausted them all. Can you guys please help. He's 21, never been in trouble, lives in Savannah Georgia. Has only about 3 months experience. He'll love to go back otr or even something local. Thanks in advance.

Companies have a policy of not hiring while under contract.I think he needs to pay the remaining balance for his CDL before CRST drops his contract. What companies has your friend applied to? Sometimes the grass is greener on the other side but you need a job to find that out not quit with no job.

CRST is very strict about the contract. When companies call to verify work there, CRST tells them, he's still under contract. Many companies won't touch him because of that. Fill out some online apps before any phone calls:

    Navajo Express
    Halvor Lines
    H.O. Wolding
    KLLM Transport
    Western Express
    Paschall Truck Lines
    Ard Trucking Company
    Comet Transportation - Harvey, IL

If they don't have online apps then call first.
Keep trying; eventually something will hit.

What part of "contract" did "your friend" not understand? Life is tough, and getting through that contract period with a bottom feeder is even tougher. Too bad folks don't realize this BEFORE signing the contracts.

Tell "your friend" to look into local work such as construction, aggregate, trash etc. Those are his best chance at a driving job for the near future.

I'm wondering whose grass was "your friend" looking at if "he" quit before he had another pasture to graze in??

Only thing he can do is to keep dropping apps. Don't know what else to say. A CDL is still worth something, I'm thinking find a company that needs drivers but isn't a trucking company. Usually they don't care too much they just need someone for delivery.

Can't a company, in this kind of situation, put it on his record as "owing money" since he did not complete the contract and if he did not pay his debt?
