Hi, I have a question regarding employment standards. Would I have a shot landing a job as a new driver with a speeding ticket going 84 in a 55? No felonies or misdemeanors, no physical issues. No accidents or any other tickets. This ticket is from August 2012. I was NOT charged with reckless driving nor was I given any points. Am I going to have to wait until 3 years? This was also a personal vehicle.

    Thanks

    mje and Chinatown Thank this.

I think you should be okay since it was under 30 mph over.

Why didn't you go to traffic school to keep it off your record?

Some companies will hire you. They don't pay too well, but you can move on after the 3 yr. mark on your ticket.

You may want to wait the 3 plus years to get it "behind you". This way, you should have a wider variety of companies to choose from.

    Good luck to you!

Thanks for the info....well I planned on just calling the mega carriers, Swift, CRST, etc, I figure they'd probably be the only ones who'd touch me, if at all. I intend on getting my CDL first from a private local school who has seemingly good reviews from this forum and a Google search. I just didn't want to dish out the money for school if i couldn't use it until August.

Luckily Chinatown, starting pay is not all that important to me. I don't expect to make much my first year. I'd rather start sooner than later.

    Chinatown Thanks this.

The sooner you start the sooner you start gaining experience which will lead to more opportunities. Best of luck to you and hope to see you on the road.

Get those points off your MVR before you get the CDL. Once you have a CDL, you can no longer have MVR points removed by going to traffic school.

Also, after you get those points cleared see about getting that ticket expunged.

84 in a 55..... Were you headed to a fire??? The companies and insurance companies consider 14 over "reckless" and you were doing near 30 over. You may wanna wait a while.
