Like most of the things we seem to worry about! Glad you passed, and thanks for letting us know!

Being frustrated will only raise it some more. Have you considered practicing meditation? (I only say that, because if I tell you to "chill" or "relax" it will likely just frustrate you that much more.) Stress has a direct affect on blood pressure though.

I've had a few high readings in the past but the nurse told me something yesterday. She said that if thy don't use a big enough cuff the reading is always high so this might explain it. Tell them you want the biggest cuff they have.

This is something that all clinics are likely familiar with. Many people do this.

Yes another thing to do also is if you see them pull out an "automatic" machine, ask them to take it manually. Auto machines are ALWAYS off! They have an accuracy "range" of normally 6-8 pts on systolic and diastolic readings. If you do "fail" it the first time tell them to take it manually the 2nd time, I bet you 99% of the time you will run good numbers. Medical offices use these machines because it is a lazy way of getting out of doing the work. YOU have the right to request them to take it manually, I do it every time I go in to the doctor.
