when I left the Shipper all they gave me was a blank BOL, my CAT scale tickets when I was empty and loaded (a little annoyed about that) my Wash ticket and my COA, I tried asking them if the Bills were right but they kept telling me it was. I was worried because I was 40lbs heavy on my steers so I didn't want to get ticketed for that PLUS get a ticket/arrested for having a not legal BOL

then I arrive at the consignee 480 miles later and all they gave me back was my Wash ticket and my on-site scale ticket. I told them I needed my bills, so they gave me my COA and only gave me back the same blank BOL because I wouldn't stop fighting with them (dispatch told me it was ok to fight)

did I work for free since the Bills are blank and not signed? or am I overreacting to something small.

I hate to sound greedy but I would like to get paid for what I did yesterday. Unless you all think i'm being greedy then i'll just drop it

You'd be amazed how often bills aren't even remotely right. I don't know who you work for but when I was at a big carrier no signature on the bill was bad. We wouldn't have gotten paid.

I would let dispatch know they didn't sign the bill and get the office folks involved. Let them earn their keep.

Good luck little brother. Let us know how it turns out.

its not only that the bills aren't signed, its that they are completely blank as well

    you'll love this then!

I was hauling a Hazmat load and they wrote the bills incorrectly, I kept asking them to fix them but they refused he said "I've been doing this job for 18 years and this is how I've always done it" I kept trying and trying to get him to change them, so I called safety who told me that I was right, then tried to argue with the shipper. eventually he gave in. Then a few days later I had a fight with dispatch who was trying to convince me I didn't have placards on my trailer when I know for a fact I did

Infrequently I haul freight for customers that don't provide a BOL. Costco comes to mind, they are paperless. For that reason I always have blank BOL's and make out my own. That's why blank BOL's are for sale at truck stops. Every trucker should have some.

Same thing with seals. I carry seals in case the customer doesn't use them.

So the shipper gave you a blank BOL as in it doesn't say what you're hauling or even the weight? Gotta love that.

Only customer that I deal with that doesn't tell us exactly what is on the trailer or the weight is Safeway when I transfer store loads between warehouses but they right down how many pallets there are.

You worry too much. You could have been 100 even 200 lbs over and cops wouldn't have said anything.Far as your BOL,lucky you didn't get caught, you would have been thrown in jail and sat there till trial then probably get sent to the pen for 5 to 10.Would have been embarrassing getting cuffed at the weigh station with all the other truckers looking and shaking their heads in shame.

Like Lepton mentioned there are blank BOL's at truck stops for just this.
You HAVE to have a BOL for each load - and not a blank one.

I run those Costco loads as well, and I fill out my own for each trip.
Type of freight is simply 'General Mdse'. I'll ballpark the weight and make sure I have a legal scale ticket before I head out.

Like others have also said, 40 pounds over 12,000 on the steers won't raise any eyebrows. My truck is usually 12,200 with full tanks and a heavy load, and never a word is said.
I could set the fifth wheel back one hole, but I like having the extra wiggle room on the drives.
