I'm studying for my cdl. I'm not the guy that knows car internal workings really well so i have a lot to learn here on all the internal workings of a truck. From what Ive read and the videos I've watched, I would want to do the pti during daylight to do it correctly - but that does not seem realistic - figuring your 14 hours will start early (especially in areas with heavy traffic ). So how do you do your pti while dark - as simple as use a flashlight? Is that sufficient ?

    Thanks.

No, no. A flashlight won't do. You need to wait until the sun comes up.

You cannot do a proper pretrip at night. The creepy crawlers and the boogiemen are out. Wait until daylight when it's safe and the monsters of the parking lot can't get you.

Dont forget the LL's! At least the two you mentioned can be stunned by a tire thumper or crowbar.

Most of my pti's take place at night anyways. I've got a 30 led stick light that I use. Keeps most boogiemen at bay, but you'll still need a thumper for the monsters.

...I feel so left out. You all didn't harass me when I was new! :biggrin_2553:

Don't worry about it, you'll never check for corrosion on your batteries, even if you have time and it's daylight. ( I've never pulled the lid off the battery boxes, so I'm not sure if I even have any)
I just press my thumb on the tire sidewalls to check pressure, check the lights, sometimes I'll look to see if it has brake pads.

But in school, you'll have to memorize all that stuff.

Youre running out of time then. Dec 22 marks 90 days.

And for all the harassment you guys are smart about it. Haven't noticed one person saying to do it in an unsafe manner. ...road flares is getting there I guess.
