........ I was making a delivery today at PFG in Kendallville Indiana. I got the call to go inside and get my bills and pay the lumper.
After I was done I was walking back to the truck. I notice a guy standing at my truck. when I get close he informs me he hit my truck as he was pulling out. He caught it with his trailer door. Luckily all he did was catch the bug mirror and break it all up. Bent the post, destroyed the plasic. It points at the ground now. Didnt scratch the truck or anything. Lucky.
So I ask him for his information, company, insurance ect.
He tells me he doesnt have that info.....huh? I asked him if he knows who he works for. He says yes... but would like to give me cash to say it happened at some truck stop and didnt know who did it.
I told him sorry. I cant do that. I am a terrible lyier. I asked him to go get his info. His truck was parked down the lot towards the exit. He said ok. The guy from the truck on the other side of me rolls his window down and tells me he witnessed it. I asked if he would mind giving me his name and number so I could give it to my company. I look down the lot to see whats taking this guy so long.... AND HE WAS PULLING AWAY!!!
The SOB took off. it was too dark to see any names on the truck.
So, the witness said he would write alittle statement that he witnessed the accident and the guy taking off.
I went back inside and the reciever and lumper service gave me the guys company, BOL #, his trailer # and the SOBs phone number. The lumper had his number to call when his bills were ready and time to pay.
I called my company accident line and they said to not bother with the cops. It was private property and they probably wouldnt have even come out. I gave them all the guys info, took pics, got the witness statement, and made a report.
I am still furious at that dbag.... what a wussy....
What would you have done? Would you have called to cops? I wanted to call the SOBs phone and curse him out. But my company said to leave it to them. They will go after him.
I saw the guy arrive. He was with another guy. They came in together when they arrived to check in. Then I didnt see the other guy again. Not even when the truck was parked next to me. I got the feeling he was the trainer and he went to bed...but thats a guess....
I didnt get a chance to thank the SOB for the Christmas gift. MFer.....
My truck is a brand new Peterbilt 579 It has just over 20,000 miles on it. I picked it up with 54 miles...
So pissed..... trying to look at the bright side.....
My Chrisrmas gift today.....

When he went to "get his info", you should have gone with him. Sucks all the way around.

The positive is, I got on the phone with the shop...and they have a replacement mirror waiting for me for Friday morning and a 7am appointment at Perterbilt to handle it.

Shoulda seen it coming when he offered cash to make it go away. I had a guy tear the mirror off my 85 359 about 2 weeks ago. He took off like a gut shot coyote, when I got out of bed and seen he was gonna make a dash for it I had arse whuppin in mind. He did get away before I got my pants on, but not before I got his truck and trailer number. I'm thinking he is unemployed this christmas.
NavigatorWife, ramblingman, 48Packard and 2 others Thank this. -
If you are a Company Driver, give them the info and let them handle it. Dude is a grade "A" Buttwipe, no question. It is Private property so the only thing the police would do is fill out a report, or possibly give you a blank form so you can self report and drop it off, or fax it in.
Interestingly I delivered to PFG in Dallas this morning and had to pull up three times trying to get out without hitting the spot mirror on the truck to my left.mickimause, ncmickey and NavigatorWife Thank this. -
I should have seen it coming.... but he did stop at first... so I thought the cash was a last ditch effort and would give me his insurance info since I refused... im a sucker!!! Lol
Learned a good leason..
This PFG is also incredibly tight. My witness says he delivers there several times a week and sees an accident every week or two....48Packard, NavigatorWife, wore out and 1 other person Thank this. -
We try to see the best in people but are somehow shown the worst. Guy couldn't have been to bright to not see it didn't take a sherlock holmes to get his info from the shipper.
ncmickey, Skydivedavec, KMac and 3 others Thank this.
