2011 is still "to recent". Many trucking companies take a dim view of a truck driver falling asleep at the wheel. As a professional truck driver you are supposed to get your proper rest/sleep. Now it could be that you falling asleep behind the wheel of your car, is an indication to them, that you have sleep apnea. So hang in there for now, finish schooling. Worry about this at a later time. Sad too that when someone is denied a job, many times, you will never know why. But falling asleep behind the wheel can in your situation be what they saw as a problem.

 

When describing your accident on apps dont use the phrase fell asleep, maybe swerved to miss a child.

 

It might be a combination of factors: The area in which you live. (I.E. They don't need drivers there?) The offenses are too recent and your age (to con-inside with the accident) but who really knows the reasons...

I would keep plugging away. It's the end of the year and the loads aren't as prevalent, so concentrate on class, get your endorsements, and then in 2015 start looking again. By then who knows, you may have found a local company, or some other mega to take you on. (and on a personal note, I have mixed feeling about Werner anyway, so I'm glad they turned you down)

 

Try Carolina Cargo. This is a company that gives drivers a chance to redeem themselves.
You will be running coast to coast, back to back with no waiting for loads. 6,000 miles a week probably.
The pay is low, but if you take full advantage of the on-time delivery, fuel bonus, etc. plus the milage pay, you can take home around $800.00 a week. If they hire you, stay with them for 12 months then you should be OK to go elsewhere.

 

This will work, unless he told the responding cops that he fell asleep. Many trucking companies want a police report, if the accident is with-in thier time frame for such information. So if it IS on the police report, he cannot say he swerved to avoid anything.

 

Excellent advice! If you say "fell asleep", any company will want a sleep study which costs several thousand dollars.

21 years of age may be a problem for many. Many require 23. But the 1 accident and 1 ticket in a relatively recent, and relatively short time span will be a red flag for many.

 

On his dime too. I do not know if the o/p has any health insurance, and as of right now, I don't even know if ANY health insurance pays for any such testing? Sad too, he could have just been out all night, or was going home from work, and he falls asleep. The how, or why will not matter to the trucking companies, as it may have set off red flags?
