A no brainer. No experience first job. Take it run with it and get some time under your belt. There is no set pay in this business. Alan ![]() ![]()

Go for it. I get about that but with all the O.T I get it really adds up. I make about 3,000 a month when you factor in all the O.T. I also drive a straight truck.

| Straight Truck (local, regional, or national) = No Experience when applying for an OTR tractor trailer combo job later. But if it's what you want to do...go for it.

Thanks for all the replies. But I was just told that no one with a CLASS A CDL should not get paid anything less than 15.00. Do you guys think that there is still no "set pay" in this business? I got this info from the driving school I attended. The school is advising me that I should go otr, but I just can't at the moment.

Anyone with a Class A should get whatever they are comfortable with getting paid, if your cool with 10 an hour go for it, if your cool with 17 etc..... But like dan pointed out driving a straight truck will equate to no experience for semi's, not that that is a bad thing, but you probably got your Class A for a reason

I think I aught to be paid at least $30 to $50 an hr. Does that mean I am getting it??????? Currently I get paid $900 a week, works out to $12 an hr hauling hazmat. I've got 5 yrs of driving all over the country OTR, and a good mix of local work too. I have NO accidents/wrecks and no serious tickets. Its not enough for hauling hazmat, but what do you do??? For me I'm quiting friday and moving on to another job that should be paying me twice that for non hazmat. For you with a freshly minted CDL and WANT to be home nights I would take it. With over time you'll be doing just fine. Unless you can find another job you don't have a lot of choices here do you?

Thanks for all the advise. I went to the company and got interviewed and I start on Monday with starting pay at 17.50 an hour plus health, dental, and vacation benifits. Once again thanks for all the replies and advise.
