Do any companies make state maps for truckers? Like the ones that fold 8 times.

There are some areas that I would like to get a closer look at than the Rand McNally Truckers Atlas does.

Sure. You can find them in most any trucks stop or convenience store. Often a smaller version that folds and is laminated is available for a price.

Good question as I have been thinking of that also. The state I am in now I can get around as I have lived here my whole life but plain to move and a “truck map” would be nice.

Are they "truck only" maps or the everyday people maps you could get in gas stations years ago?

Well, used in conjunction with a truckers atlas ought to give you the best of both worlds. If you could find those specialized "trucker" state maps they'd cost a fortune but Rand McNally does not have any such thing on their web site and I doubt anyone else does either.

The rest area's offer free state maps with DOT designated routes for trucks, however, you must always obey traffic signs...as some roads are restricted to local delivery only...or no thru trucks, which are "traps" designed to open your wallet. Also, each state has its own web portal for the DOT. You can see truck routes, weather, road closures, accidents, plus construction information.

If you belong to the AAA, or any other motor club, you can inquire there as well, for FREE maps, but they certainly will NOT be trucker specific.

I used to buy map books, made by Hagstrom I believe? they a re yellow covered map books, and are VERY specific to the areas you need. I must have about 10 of New Jersey specific street maps of all the counties of Jersey. BUT they are NOT trucker specific either.

Wow, the prices are sticker shock for sure. I was buying them at or about $12.99 each back then, when driving the NJTP.!

whenever I enter a state for the first time I go to the Welcome Centers and get road maps, yes they are built for cars and the motoring public but it is a better view of what my Rand McNally is missing

as for scales and all that, I trust My Rand McNally map for that,

Any big gas station should have a county map for their state in that state.

I only carried a Montreal city map. That thing was gold telling one ways.

That RM will get the job done but look for those county books in the truck stop next time u go in.

    Numb Thanks this.
