Is there a time limit that a former employer had to report things to DAC? Like 6 months after employment after employment is terminated would seem ridiculous, but could they do it?

Not sure but a trucking company has to have a subscription to DAC to report a driver and that costs money. If your previous company is a small one chances are they don't have an account and can't report.

I cannot confirm nor deny your question regarding putting information onto your DAC, on a time frame/limit of time, other than to say that if an employer is a subscriber (member), it can be up to and over a year for comments to be put on your DAC. Now, I say this from PERSONAL experience, as I have indeed been a part of added information onto my DAC. I get a DAC at least once per year. One year, nothing about a former employer, the next year, POW, a report from them.

This is all I can say. Do I fight it? Hell no. Should I fight late information? I could care less at my age. However, what YOU CAN DO is a search on DAC time limits, by maybe even up to and including, that YOU call them and ask them?

It's always been HireRight. Nothing changed. They are the ones that maintain driver DAC reports.

I don't think there is a time limit but also don't think companies wait long to report especially if it's something major.

As G.Anthony says, you are allowed one free copy per year upon request (and make sure you follow procedure to the T, or as far as they are concerned...you have not made a request). You are also SUPPOSED to get a copy sent to you every time a company requests (pays for) one...because it is YOUR information, and you have a right to see who is asking for it, and what they have been given.

Unlike G.Anthony, I recommend you fight every single wrong and/or miss information you come across. How are we gonna keep these companies honest if we sit back and say "whatever"? Old...young...whether you are sitting pretty on your current gig? None of that should matter. It is a report based on YOUR personal information, performance, and in a way credit (not necessarily financial)---why let someone tarnish that? You realize if you apply for a loan or mortgage or credit card, and you put "truck driver" on your loan applications, financial institutions use HireRight as well for background checks?

Their web site says "Could take up to 15 days" when you ask for a copy of your DAC---expect them to send the darn thing out on that 15th. day or later. They are worthless, and take their time.

And if you're NOT a member? Correct answers still? Incorrect answers? No answers? Or sales pitch? Just curious.
