They think drivers are fools and many are. Stay AWAY from teaming it is all drama and you are NOT compensated for the extra headache.

Do any companies have a supersolo? Like for a husband and wife team that doesnt want to run as hard as the norm?

I would not team with anyone but my wife... I would not enjoy being locked up in a truck by myself and then stuck in a truck stop or yard for 10 or more hrs a day .. plus the biggest complaint I have seen from solos is HOME TIME, HOME TIME, HOME TIME... With a Husband and wife, We will be at home :) its like a work from home job .. We need no house,no one at home worrying costing us our pay check every week. - so far far less expenses..We can take home time everyday.. get laid and keep moving

I feel bad for the solo driver its like a prison cell..

Personally, I love my wife and would rather share a cell with her than by myself ..each to their own..

Now considering all that time lost to home time, I don't see how a husband and wife team could possiably not make far more money and with fewer expenses.. Plus some outfits paying the BIG $$$ for hauling things such as Govt loads like ammo and explosives -HIGH VALUE LOADS, They will only take teams and pay WAY higher than any solo will ever think of making ..like $1800-3000 a wk each guarenteed.. show me a company solo driver making anywhere near that ..IMHO a H&W team is the only way to go..

You would have to pay me far more to be a solo .. Cause I think it would suck.. Oh and we both sleep like babies in a moving vehicle.. We aint worried about dying, Heck that just means WE GET TO MOVE UP TO HEAVEN .. So no worries ..Just enjoy the ride ..it's like being a paid tourist.. We will run 6-8 weeks at a time or longer then take Hometime which to us means a vacation to Mexico or Hawaii etc for a week, not a 48 hr run home to see mama every other week ..

Big difference to me .. I hear very few happy solo drivers ... Most husband and wife teams seem to enjoy it and make good $$$, so I would say that's worth a lot all by itself ..

Teaming isnt that bad, you can put more money in the bank account and if you have a friend to drive with you can have some good times OTR, even more so if you live out of hotels and in the truck, no bills and no ties to any one spot let you take home time anyplace you want

Oh, and about the pay, cents per mile is two things, cents AND miles.

Getting paid less per mile but getting quite a few more miles can make a difference, I always had bigger checks when I teamed

    Not for me.

I have just enough room for everything I really need. Being solo means that I control my time much more than if I were teaming, and I have all the space for my own stuff.
A prison cell isn't much bigger, but it is also shared with at least one other person. And I have the freedom to leave it whenever I want to.

I split my home times between CO and MN to see different family. That is another freedom that I could not enjoy as a team.

While a husband/wife team is ideal in many respects, being a single solo driver suits me to a tee. I have zero complaints about my solo life.

Oh i covered hot load once with chieftain ,Flint Mi to Charleston SC , they teamed us up quick ,i didn't know my partner at all we just just jumped in the truck & blasted off , i was the first driver on duty & got us down to the rock ( appellation mts) somewhere down there about 4:30am i pulled over at TS woke him up , he went in to grab a coffee& drug my butt back in the sleeper &was laying there thinking were about to be crossing these mts and i don't even know kind of driver im putting my life in his hands ,we were pretty heavy too something like 46 k so i thought id better keep an eye open to see how he is before nodding out , he comes back gets himself geared up & i noticed something he did right off the bat ,something that sent a chill down my spine
.....he puts on these fingerless black gloves ,cranks up the cb & starts yapping a bunch of non sense on the radio ,that right there told me uh ooooh ? rookie driver ? big mts ? 46k in the wagon ? early am ? im wore out tired to the point where your seeing blue spots & fuzzy vision ,your head is throbbing .....so i thought i would just give him a chance and lay here & see how he handles take off with 46k on board ....sure enough he starts grabbing gears & just about to twist the chassis & throwin me around in the bunk and i came flyin out of that death bed into the jumper seat and he says what's wrong ? you can't sleep? i said no i think im just gonna sit here , i still feel like driving i guess it's just in my blood & i asked him he would mind if i just drove some more & he might as well get some more sleep , ee agreed on it and i got us down to Charleston , after we got there i woke him up & ask him to take care customer while take a power nap , cause I'm fired up and i want to do some driving , we got reloaded & he started driving & i came flying out of that death bed again into the jumper seat & he said #### you're one tuff SOB ain't you? i said yeah i guess so , sometimes you just feel like driving like hell to get back home & seein the wife &kids , i talked him out of that seat again DROVE !!! all the way back home , that was a 29 hr day for me and the kind $ i made for it ? .... You can kiss my can twice , out of all the math we did figuring out how much more a team driver makes , you can kiss my can three times , it all comes out to be about $ 200 more than a solo driver per wk , everybody is different i know but the chance you take & not to mention all the rest you already about
....i say you can keep that $ 200 a week more & enjoy it while you can or if you can , some things are way more important than a measly $ 200 extra & if im gonna crash & instantly burn to death ,im gonna be at the wheel & it will be my mistake atleast i will see it coming & try to survive somehow ......" KEEP IT" & KEEP YER $ TOO , throw keys back at the boss and tell him to get it there himself this ain't welfare .....had to get that out ....thnx for reading my BSguys & beautiful lady truckers

PS......yeah this is a true story
