So I just got done with a 4 week driving school. Have my CDL A, tanker,doubles/triples, waiting on Hazmat to go through. I am out of Phoenix, AZ. I have been working with a recruiter from Werner and everything I am seeing on here says to stay away from them? Am I right in thinking this and does anyone have any recommendations.

Kind of like this, there is countless companies, one that is a good fit for one driver the next one hates.
So where I feels perfectly at home you mat not. Werner maybe a good fit for you know can really answer that but you.
I personally think that you could lock the mega carriers in a room and turn off the lights it would be difficult to tell them apart. They are all going to over promise, under perform run you at times and park you at others.
All you can do is gather as much information as you can and make a decision. Names on the wll and a dart are as reliable as any other means.
Get your year done and you have lots more to choose from. A new world including local opens up.
Good luck. -
You can make a lot more money elsewhere. I won't knock the company because it works for some people.
Trimac Transportation hires a few new CDL grads from their list of schools. Try them and start your career making $60K-$80K per year.
Groendyke Transport
A&R Transport - waives the "1 yr. experience required" for military vets.
Decker Truck Line
Freymiller
Pride Transport

Chinatown Thanks this.

Lots to choose from in Phoenix. Don't rush into anything without doing your homework.

Don't rush or be rushed by a recruiter!!!! .... There are lots of opportunities if you do some research

i usually disagree with everyone
go with any company
do not lease
get a year of experience
after a year you MIGHT have an idea what you want to do in the industry
what i like or joseph likes or chinatown likes doesn't matter
Abilene training is longer then most and you will earn more training there then with Werner but being an east coast outfit I am sure your not in hiring area
but what you think you want out of the industry doesn't even come from knowledge of what the industry is
good luck whatever you decide -

I agree with what everyone above is saying. I worked for Werner and as I have stated before 3 weeks and 6 days to long. (I was there from 1 Oct to 1 Nov 2012)
I am currently getting ready to go on board with Pride Transport. Talk to Andrus out of Saint George, Utah. I worked for them, they treated me very well, but as stated before, what was good for me may not AND has not worked for others. I have read where Drivers hate Andrus. So take it for what it is worth. Research and ask lots of questions. I think Brian from Pride is sick of hearing my questions, but that is why I have chosen to go with Pride over many other offers I have had.
Just my 2 pennies worth.
