Unhappy Opinions on Mexican truck drivers being allowed in US?

I'm about to start training for my cdl and am wondering how this policy allowing Mexican trucks to operate in the US will impact the job opportunities for US truckers? Once they get in some American driving experience it's not too hard of a leap to imagine American companies hiring Mexican drivers instead of Americans.....and causing pay scales to fall. Not too mention the normal concerns of non-trucking American citizens..i.e. vehicle safety concerns, whether or not Mexican drivers will be able to understand American road signs, how Mexican truck drivers will deal with icy/snowy road conditions, the potential for drug and immigrant smuggling as well as opening the borders to more possible terroristic threats. I find all of these things to be quite concerning and was wondering how the "long-time" truckers feel about this.

Lots of people are pissed about Mexicans doing jobs that U.S. citizens used to do.

BUT MARK MY WORDS: When Mexicans become the most common truck drivers, this country will already be in a spiral downward and (I hope this never happens) a civil war will be most certain.

The last thing GW Bush has not screwed up totally, and now the Trucking industry will be taken over by terrorist Mexicans Aztecs. No one is safe in trucking now. No one is safe on the roads now either. Another bone-headed GW Bush move.

Might as well flood our roads with 1 billion Chinese truck drivers too.

I dont think it was Racist, as much as, Commentary on the way America has been heading.
We lost most of our major industry to other Countries.
Steel
Manufacturing
Oil / Energy
Automobiles
The list goes on and on to many sub categories.
Once we lose the Transportation....
What will we do?
Work at.........? The Off-work Mexican Drivers or their Smuggled relatives will have that job too.
Granted I am exaggerating a bit, but you get the point.
America has turned over so much of her Producing Power, that all that will be left for her inhabitants to do is work for the Growing Government and her Dictator's
..............

You're a bit late on this idea.

Swift has been training Mexican drivers for about 2 years (maybe more) in Laredo, TX. They are assisting them with green cards as well.

My personal favorite Swift trained Mexican drivers. The identical twins Age 24 and female. They both spoke excellent English. I'm sure they enjoyed messing with the DOT.

Is it really that funny?

How about this...Your wife & kids back in Mexico are being threatened/held hostage by a real terrorist to coerce you into delivering this "special" load somewhere.

It happens here already.
Not exactly in that form but you get the idea.
Look at those people who were made to put on Bomb vests & told to rob a bank.

If you care about anything or anyone, that's a terrorist's way of taking advantage of your vulnerabilities.

Tell me it can't happen.
I doubt there will be a real check out of the trucks after the initial ones pass thru in good shape.
Just wait a while, enforcement will get lax & then....
