FMCSA site problems trying to get DOT MC

    Im trying to get a DOT MC number and using the site to try and apply it keeps asking for my DOT number when that's what im trying to get. Any tips or things im missing please?

    Enter the name of the company in the blue search box on the menu bar, and hit enter.
    You may have to use "advanced search" and enter the company's home state, if too many companies exist nationwide for that name.
    In any case, it should give you a list of companies with that name (and similar names), which will show each company's DOT number.

    Hi, Thanks for the response. I called the tech support number for fmcsa and a nice lady helped me pretty quick so I was able to obtain my new Federal DOT number today.
    I have the process in work on applying for a Texas MC number for my little chevy 30K lb. dump truck (intrastate Texas only)

    I will get a federal MC in a few months if I buy a semi and trailer which I am about 90% decided on doing. Thanks for the great site. Dave
