Been doing the practice tests on each subject prior to going to school. The questions get repetitive quick... Any other free resources to study prior to going to school? And will getting endorsements help with job placement at all or is the otr exp highest quality they look for with the better companies?

    Chinatown Thanks this.

Study all sections in the DMV handbook needed for class A and get all endorsements, they will be needed sooner or later.

It can be be alot to remember all at one time, unless you can remember what you read, the three main ones are Combination Vehicles, Airbrakes, and General Knowledge. Endorsements, Haz, Tank, & Double/triple can come later even if you decide this is what you want to do again do the exam parts of the test and when you are knowledgeable enough to pass them on here, they're close to the tests you'll be taking. When you feel confident on all those then you'll be ready. http://www.truckercountry.com/cdl-practice-tests/

I'm a pretty quick visual learner... Otj training is going to be what takes the most time for me. Unless the trucks drive just like my manual car which I doubt

i just took my cdl test for my permit last month here in illinois took 4 test at dmv general knowledge, air brakes, combination and double and triple. from my experience the tests on here except for general knowledge is pretty similar. i scored 96% and above on my test except for general knowledge i passed barely with a 80%. general knowledge had some pretty stupid question like if charged with dui how long would you lose license for i should have studied more and actually read the whole cdl manual book. so for the most part the practice question on this site did help me.

I put in my state (WA) then put free CDL practice on Google and got several sites to study from.

Get all the endorsements, TWIC, passport. All these are money in the bank. This can mean the difference in $35K your first year of driving or $60K.

TWIC is for entry to military bases, chemical plants, sea ports. Google for nearest TWIC office.
    Passport is for Canada runs.

A&R Logistics waives the "one yr. experience required" for military veterans. DO NOT need tanker/hazmat endorsements because they haul dry bulk plastic pellets. Average pay is $62K per year and a former neighbor of mine made $72K per year working there.
