I've had Nyquil in the trk for when I had the flu and a toothache.I never was questioned on it.Just make sure you don't drive for at least 8 hrs.

I believe you're allowed any OTC med.,as long as like Patty said you leave sufficient time before you drive after taking it (ie- take at the start of your 10)
Hell, I know some people refuse to believe it, but if you have a valid Rx, even for controlled substances, as long as your Dr. okays you to drive and you feel no adverse affects, you can legally drive a CMV. Been doing it for almost 10 years off and on.....And passed no less than 7 DOT randoms in that timeframe (produced valid scripts).
    YMMV.....

Technically you're not allowed, because they do have alcohol in them. IF a DOT officer has a real stick up his butt and actually searched you, and wanted to be a complete butthead about it, you could be fined and placed out of service. I wouldn't count on it though, lol.

Yes, but if the warning labels are specific in operating machinery due to say drowsiness, then I highly suggest you take those OTC meds at your bedtime. (I am not aware of Sudafed and it's side effects)

As for doctor prescribe meds, you can take those in the truck as well, make sure they are in the properly labeled bottles, and never, I mean never have a family member's prescribe meds with you. The bottle had better have YOUR name on it. And take any doctor prescribe meds that cause drowsiness at your bedtime as well.

If you ever have to go for a random screening, make sure you take the bottles with you, if they are narcotic drugs from your doctor.

But as always, follow the label directions and do not over do the sleeping meds, as they can make some people drowsy even after a good nights/days sleep.

I would also check with the company you work for. (if your a company driver) Some places may not allow it for reasons mentioned above or some other company policy. At least then you would know what they recommend.

Mouthwash has alcohol. If you have to take an alcohol breath test, you'll fail.

I work for the anal Crete and the safety guy, in his fake southern accent, told us we can carry and use mouthwash with alcohol in it.
Plus I have the 90 proof rubbing alcohol for the air brakes and removing adhesive.
But I won't keep a trailer long enough to dry out the rubber........
