I keep hearing about companies in Chicago that hire new drivers fresh out of school for local work. Does anyone know of any companies in Chicago? Thanks. Stay safe out there.

Check out ABF around the South Holland area. YRC is also next door. Being in Chicago you should have a nice selection overall of companies to apply at.

Hmm.. A lot of those companies people are mentioning require experience.. I was otr with Roehl for 4 months, I got lucky and got a local job at Pepsi delivering pop. Pepsi wants some kind of experience though too, I think it's 3 months. I worked out of Chicago for 1.5 years. They were gonna put me on a route in Garfield Park, plus the plant was 52 miles from where I live, so I got a new job. How much money do you need to make? Cause I got a few suggestions for you depending on what your answer is. Do you have any experience?

Most of the LTL's I mentioned have driver finishing schools and will take you right out of trucking school they need drivers that bad. "How much money do you need to make"? As much as I can possible get in my 60-70 hours. No one should discount themselves.

I understand what you are saying.. But, would you rather do a job you love for 50-60k, or a ###### job for 70-80k? It all depends on your situation. In the OP's case, how desperate is he/she for local work? And if he/she can't get a local job would he/she be willing to do otr in a limited way, like 7 on 7 off as a way to combat homesickness? Even if that means low paychecks just in order to get that experience for local work. Also, is it all about the bottom line, regardless of the hours worked? Sure, at MBI you average 60-65k a year, but you're working over 65 hours a week #### near every week. Or, you can work at a company like Blackhorse, make 50-60k and work under 50 hours a week. In my case, whatever my average hourly is plays a huge role it what I want, plus I don't want to work 60+ hours a week.
