I am planning on leaving my current employer and want to make sure I pass my DOT physical before i turn in my notice. How long is that physical good for before it expires (What is the max time I need to get my permit after I take it?) I have researched but cannot seem to find this out.

How's your health? If your blood pressure is good, you'll probably get a two year card. BP meds, CPAP, one year. If your health is crummy, you'll get denied or a shorter term card. Technically you don't need a medical card to get a permit, but you do need one to drive with the permit. Most CDL schools will furnish a physical if you don't already have one done.

I have 1 eye that I can not pass with, IIRC you need 20/40 and I have 20/60 and getting needles in it every 6 weeks.
Any way I was able to get a waiver for it so I could keep my class B license at the time, have class A now, but with the waiver I can only drive IN STATE for the next 3 years. This can be an issue getting a job if you live in a small state like I do, 2 hours and I can be across the state. I took a local home heating oil truck driving job. Hope when I move in 3 months I can get a class A driving job as it is a bigger state.
BTW the time put in driving in my state now can be transferred to my new state.

My health is good just take BP med. Oh okay, I thought I had to have my physical before I could get my permit. My bp tends to go up when I go to the doc and just want to make sure I pass that part first before I leave, otherwise, shouldnt be any problems

You don't need a CDL to go get a DOT physical. Get one done, then you will have your answer.

Going to a local community college driving school in early summer after I take a month or so off, I know I gotta have the physical before I enroll

I have been on BP meds for 10+ years now. Losing 30 lbs cut it back a lot, thing is it has to be under control.
On the day of my check up I walked a block (parking lot to building) & up 4 floors of stairs 15 min before and I passed.
My eye sight in 1 eye is what gave me a hard time and a waiver fixed that for now.

With BP meds they could give you a 90- 1year pass.

Since you're on bp medicine you'll be issued a 1 yr card. But once you start driving for a company, you'll need to retake your physical
