Hey ya'll, I was wondering, particularly OTR's. How do you manage your bills? I mean, you're gone for a week and a half or two at a time, so how are you home to send your bills in the mail and still get them there on time to avoid fees and such?
Does that make sense? I couldn't put it together any better.
How do you guys manage your bills??

Being single and OTR can be difficult for many reasons. Bill paying is just one of those. Thankfully we live in the information technology era. If you have the means, setting up automatic payments works great. If that's not an option, there's always online bill paying. And if that's not an option (as was the case for me when I first started), then I recommend asking a trusted family member or friend to help you out. I opened up a joint checking account with my mom so that she could write checks for me to make sure all my bills were paid on time. Of course I also kept her well supplied with postage stamps. Still yet another option is utilizing Western Union's bill paying services. Just about every truck stop has access to a Western Union terminal and can help you with filling out the proper forms.
Hope this helps.

Thank you very much for the response. Of all those options, my mother will probably be willing to take care of them for me if I send her the money or something. If not, maybe I can get a laptop in my truck once I'm out on my own. Either way, I'll figure it out. Thanks again.

Be careful about using wi-fi when doing banking things online though. Someone can catch the signal. You want to when at all possible to use a hardwire connection when doing those types of transactions.

I would suggest using an air card through verizion, AT&T, Sprint, etc. -
If you have a laptop and a WiFi subscription with Flying J, you can use the ethernet ports in the restaurant and lounge of all Flying J's.

Alright thanks you guys! One (newbyish) question though. What is this WiFi system you speak of?
-
WiFi is wireless internet. All major truckstops are WiFi "hotspots", meaning that if a person has a laptop with a wireless adapter (most new laptops have them built in), you can access the web from your truck while on their property, for a nominal fee of course.

My wife takes care of all the bills while I am gone. Wait a minute, if I wasn't married I would not have any bills!!! -
Now how many years did that take to know that?
