What's up my fellow truckers...so I"m finally ready to start my trucking career. I've been offered an intermodal position with SNI. I'll be in orientation this coming week. What do you all think, did I make the right choice? I'm located in Chicago, but will be going to Green Bay for training. Any input is appreciated, thanks!

I work in their dedicated area in the southeast. Give me a bit and I can toss together what you need to know and keep an eyeball out for.

Until then, I need to get some rest. I'm out to Memphis tomorrow, in the meantime I'm working on an experience post detailing my first 5 months with SNI. I'll link it here.

    Good luck!

I started with Schneider on my second job. It's a good place for a beginner to start

First, I was wondering how much home time I will be getting. Then how many miles would I be running on an average week... also, can i work 6 days a week? Lastly, what can i expect to make on a weekly basis after taxes, don't want to set my expectations too high. Thanks bro!

Home time: out 5 days 2 days off.
You can either pick from working sun-thurs or Tues-sat

If you live close to Chicago, you can go home for the night. Some drivers go home every other day

Being new probably 1500 miles a week
Once you get the hang of it then 2000-3000 depending how you work. No matter what, we will keep you rolling. If no freight in your area, you deadhead back to Chicago. Paid.

You can work your days off. when we are busy we ask drivers to work their days off for extra $$$ from $50 to $200 incentive. So if you work both, that could be $400 plus your miles.

It depends on your working style. You could make $400 or $1000. Like sitting in the bunk playing video games all day? Well then don't complaint about your paycheck. decide to jump in the bunk early so you can wake up early enough to avoid chicago traffic? Well your check will show.

Huh. ..recruiter told me Mo - Fri was an option with weekends off and that a local position is possible at 3 months.

True, you can request a different set up, I did after sometime. Idk if they would at the beginning, but once you get some time in you could. Also true with local, I got offer 3 months in but decline.
