What a way to end my crappy day. Sitting here with this truck and the trans guage reads 100 degrees. That can't be normal right? Also my sidebox won't close.

What does it usually read? I mean you're just sitting there right?

Trans temps read higher often sitting because the cooler heats up from the radiator .. My last 3 trucks will show up 180 or so sitting but drop when driving. I don't think you have a problem

100 is luke warm, barely. Why are you worried about it?

If your side box won't close, look for an obstruction or oil the hinges.

I'm assuming he's idling which heats up tranny from heat transfer from radiator to the tranny cooler

Check the little hoop thingy (technical term) that the latch clamps onto. On the Prostar I had it bent inwards and the latch wasn't making contact. It was easy to bend back out.

Also 100* doesn't seem unreasonable. I'm parked right now and the trans temp is 91*.

The heat when sitting doesn't come from the radiator. Transmissions have a small separate cooler. The heat comes from the coolant pump in the trans and other parts moving even though your not moving. This could be a sign of a problem ready to happen. 100 is not much at all but it's your truck, if your use to seeing it a lot cooler keep watching it. Are you sure your oil level is up?
