Hello all you truck drivers out there, my name is David and I am a wannabe. I am going through the process of having the Workforce Investment Act pay for my truck driving tuition, however one of the steps (last steps) in the process is I need to interview 3 current employees. Unfortunately I do not personally know any current drivers, only retired drivers and apparently that's not acceptable. I am hoping I might be able to convince 3 of you to help me with this step. Feel free to omit any info or message me personally. Here are the questions:

    business:
    address:
    city:
    person interviewed:
    phone:
    job title:
    date:
what do you do in a typical day?

what skills and personal characteristics do you need to do this job?

what is the rate of pay for entry level workers?
what are the chances for promotion?
    what are normal work hours?

what is the outlook for your work in this area?
    is the industry growing?

what education, work experience or certificate is required for this job?

what do you find satisfying about your job?

What are the most interesting aspects of your job?

Do you like the working conditions?

Do you work on your own, under supervision, or as part of a team?

Is there anything else I should know about this industry or job?

Please feel free to give short answers and omit any obvious questions.. thank you all, and I hope to see you on the road in the near future!

In a typical day I haul block to various job sites. The skills you need are a CDL A and a willingness to use it. Right now I make $18 an hour. The chances for promotion are like any job you have to make yourself more useful to the company. I basically work 9 to 5 sometimes more hours sometimes less. Trucking in general is always looking to add more truckers. I find it satisfying to contribute to the building of a city. Me hauling block five days a week helps get structures built. The work conditions are fine, I work very much on my own. You should know that at first you're not going to be very good at driving a semi but with practice and dedication you will get better. I work for MAG Construction out of Gilbert, Az.

You got a local job just after your first orientation? Thats awesome, I was planning on going otr for orientation and then at least 6 months before I re-evaluated my options.

Absolutely! Thank you very much! I am trying to get into the next starting classes, and my WIA worker needs me to have this turned in by 5pm today in order to do so, or I have to wait another month. You guys are going to make this possible for me! THANK YOU!
