Hi, I'm new to this site
    My name is Brandon

I got my cdl in 2012 through allstate career school I had a chance with us express but was left in a hotel for 2 weeks and needed to be home for a family emergency and never got a trainer so when I came home I gota local job which I recently quit. Long story short I want to be with a good company where I will be able to get in training and feel confident behind the wheel. But I also want to go local as soon as I can. Any advice would be great my mind has been racing and my nerves are a wreck bc I don't kno where to Go. Thanks

If you want local just stay local. Do google searches of companies close to your house. Pull out the local yellow pages and go to transportation section. You might be amazed at how many outfits there are you've never heard of. It's always easier to get a job while you have one. Might want to get your old job back or find a simple job to fill the void. Contract work is good. You could always tell a future employer you were helping a friend and not jobless just because you quit your current job without any sort of a backup plan in place.

Thanks , Im out of Baltimore Maryland & the job I left was kinda pushing me out the door cutting my hours and overtime also it was only a class b position. Ive tried getting a local job or jockey position but everyone wants at least 3months OTR.
I want to try and and get my training a few months but i wanted to get some pointers before I made a choice. Right now im only looking at Swift & Us express.

Search on here " Local Job "
Read up on many ways to attain the local job. OTR
    is not needed.
Have anymore questions. Ask us in this forum, Many of us never did OTR.

If you don't mind running the road for awhile, then go with Earl Henderson Trucking. They have some local/regional/dedicated routes available that you might luck out and get in to right away or may have to wait until something opens up. Meanwhile you can be gaining experience with the CDL-A.
They will provide transportation to get to the orientation, usually Amtrak or bus, plus hotel room and 3 meals a day.
