It seems like back east you get a few extra cents per mile but shorter hauls and lots of traffic.
Out west seems more stress free with longer hauls and more space between cities even if you get less per mile.
Of course there is way more freight in the east so less waiting between loads maybe?
Many companies advertise "western 11" on craigslist , is this a good idea?
So many things for a new driver to consider before signing on.
Thanks in advance for any insight.
East vs West; where is the money for a company driver/rookie

There's decent money to be made most anywhere in the USA. Depends on what type trucking you want and if you have endorsements. Where is your location?
-
Where do you live? There's less stress out west, sometimes.
-
I am out west but willing to move ANYWHERE!
I live out in the boonies in the Rockies and not many companies hire from here so I plan on relocating anyway. -
like most jobs you dont relly know what you want or like until you find it
really just getting your feet wet and some experience is the key at first
just my $.02
I never thought I would like running to west coast
now i dont want to go anywhere else -
You're good to go with probably 100 companies willing to hire new CDL graduates. If you want to relocate, fine, move to Texas or Las Vegas,Nevada. No personal income taxes there and plenty of good companies recruit from there.

That is a fact! So far I have not ruled out much of anything. I am getting tanker , doubles and hazmat this week and will go wherever I find the best job( to the extent that I can even figure out what the best job for me is). -
Yep, down in New Mexico.
Would relocate to either of those fine states.
Even big companies like Schneider will not hire rookies from New Mexico -
East VS. West. A few things to consider. Low overpasses are unheard of out West, for the most part. Roads are wider, better maintained, most shippers/consignees are located in newer, not ancient facilities where you can maneuver 53' trailers easily. Yes there are a few exceptions like in town San Francisco etc. (which you probably won't ever see anyway). There are no tolls west of Ok. except a couple of bridges around San Francisco Bay. And the Coronado bridge onto Coronado Island in San Diego (which you probably won't ever get to either). The tolls I'm speaking of are reasonable too, not like the east where it cost you a weeks pay to cross over a bridge. Weather is great too with winter being an exception N./E. of Sacramento. OK, OK, Co. too, but that's not really West.
The Crossword Trucker Thanks this. -
