I pulled into a school zone from a parking lot drive way, going 36 (speed limit was 35 normally) but the school flashers were on (they were down the road from where I pulled onto the road) and so I was cited for 36 in a 20 during school zone hours. Since this is considered excessive speed, does anyone know a DECENT company that will hire with this nasty ticket on my record?? Thanks in advance. Located in Ohio.

    Chinatown Thanks this.

You'll be severely limited in the job search. I got a 12 over and that is considered excessive. My employer at the time told me to hire a lawyer and get it reduced as their insurance company would drop me and then offered to advance me the money if I needed it. I got it down to a 2 mph over and it cost me $300 bucks. They don't want your job or CDL, they just want your MONEY!

Have you already paid the ticket?

Been there man, was in an area I didn't know and pulled into the school zone from the middle, never saw the signs or a school for that. That was a long time ago and no longer on my record (not my employment driving record at least) If your record is clean aside from that you MAY be ok with explaining what happened. It doesn't hurt to try. The fact your "speeding" speed was in fact the actual speed limit makes it's pretty believable I would think.

Dna brings up a good point, ---
Fightin' a speedin' citation is (just about) always a good idea. Even if it cost
more than just payin' the penalty.
Your citation, havin' been received for an infraction committed around a
school, might tilt the decision scale away from favorable for you.

    DON'T GET ANY MORE CITATIONS!!

Good luck, --- keep us posted.

I would have walked the street and taken pictures of where I entered the street, where the flashers are, and where I got pulled over. And I would have contacted the judge...ESPECIALLY if my record was spotless before. It has been my experience that if you are respectful, and dont talk alot of bull, most judges and court clerks will give you a break.

I hope you havent paid the ticket.

Did you go to court and show them your entry point?

That's basically what my Lawyer told me. I waited in the waiting room while he went back and talked with the Judge. Someone opened the door and I would swear the Lawyer was demonstrating a golf swing to the Judge who was kicked back and sipping on a Mountain Dew. It's all about MONEY and courteousness and respect go a long ways in small matters like this. Well small in the grand scheme of things but HUGE to a CDL holder.
