Is it true in the tri-state area nyc,nj,ct they use straight trucks, box trucks more often then tractor trailers to transport goods? And if they use a tractor they pull semi trailers more often cause of the limited space and traffic in the tri state... some guy told me this

Some guy was wrong. I've run in 4 of the 5 boroughs of nyc, North jersey, south jersey, all over Connecticut, BOSTON, etc. You can't trust "some guys".

I don't live near there anymore, but I ran both dry van and reefer and did the occasional car hauling on the weekends out of manheim to philly and jersey.

I started with Millis back in 2001. There's no set time you have to do OTR before you go local/dedicated. Some companies just ask for a year exp or more.

we use straight trucks downtown and combos everywhere else.. the straight trucks are rough because they don't turn.. I got stuck down there once trying to maneuver .. learned more that day than anything I EVER learned in school..

If anything daycabs. Makes it much easier to manuever around, also to blindside into some of the ridiculous places ship/cons want you to back into.
