Im not a trucker yet but I'm studying to go to school to get my CDL.

what are some good companies to start off with?
I want to do OTR just for the money but what are the pros and cons to OTR?

Im from Indiana and i know schneider pays for schooling but don't want to pay me anything per mile.

Sorry, But I disagree. A bad company can do a lot of damage to a driver's ability to move on. Poorly maintained equipment, poor training, illegal dispatches, and much more. With the amount of information available to companies today, a bad record can follow you for a long time to come. If possible try to find a company that does not have the trainer "team" with you in order to make any money. When they do that, it forces the trainer to stay awake longer to finish out the miles(if he stays awake all day) or you end up teaming before you are ready.
My company does NOT allow trainers to team. Our trainers are awake, logged ON-DUTY, and teaching the entire time you are driving. I don't know which OTR companies do this, but I am sure there are one or two. My company is a regional, home weekend company but Good Luck!

Don't look at cents-per-mile; a few cents-per-mile difference in companies doesn't mean anything; it's the accessorial pays that are important. I made $65K per year @ $.36 cents-per-mile because of accessorial pays. There's drivers pulling reefers making $30K and others making $60K.
Some drivers working for Schneider Bulk division making over $60K.
Get all the endorsements plus TWIC ID Card and a passport; all this is money in the bank.

Take a look at Covenant Transport. The take on school graduates, 3 day Orientation, 280 hour on the road training, then 90 team. After second upgrade to OTR, stay team or go solo. Covenant is primarily team oriented, bout sister company STAR is primarily solo, same fleet management, easy cross.

Yes you can, this whole process takes 4 months, andvuou are making miles, about 42 cents per mile split the last 3/,of those months. But learning how to drive abtruck does not make you a truck driver, learning how to make the best money, makes you a truck driver!
