Been driving a school bus and just gotten tired of the kids getting worse in the past four years (lol) It's been rough. Went out on my own to obtain my cdl A though a third party state tester. So since I don't have the experience that I need to go out on my own, I thought FFE would be I think my best bet????? Because no one will hire me until I get the training needed to be out on the road. Any thoughts for me or words of wisdom from other drivers ?????? thank you

I tried plunging into frozen food once. Next time I'll wear thermals.

    Just sayin'...

Frozen Food vs Bad Kids On A Bus

Heck, even I'd put up with lumpers and shipper/receiver delays over a bus full of kids with distemper.

Are you planning on going OTR and living out of the truck for weeks at a time, or are you needing to be closer to home?

Please put your location in your profile. Forum members can give you better feedback if they can match up potential trucking companies with your location and needs.

Thank you for the reply. I live in North Florida ( Pensacola ) Like to find something that might get me home once in a while since I'm a family man, but understand this may not be possible till I put my time and dues in with my first trucking company ( I understand at least ^ months to a year )
FFE requires that you could unload up to 30% which probably means more like 50%. Not too worried about that just worried that doing so could wear me out ( driver getting tired ) and leave me not in such good shape to continue driving further on if I had to.
Wondering if there is another company that I could train with that someone began their career with and was pleased to stay with them for a year......?

P.S. - Bad kids - you have no idea how bad it real gets...... it's so bad that all our buses have 4 to 6 on board cameras to record ever angle in case a kid accuses a driver of bad doings, cause it seems that all these parents think that their kids are angles ..... lol These cameras are actually put there for our (driver) protection.

CTL Transportation would be better. Get a year experience with this company then switch to SVTN or Trimac Transportation.
SVTN has a terminal in Saraland.
    Trimac has a Pensacola terminal.

CTL Transportation has a school in Florida and provides meals and lodging.
If you don't want tankers, Midwest-coast Transport will train you; they do lots of Florida loads.

Tankers is best; make $60K+ and with Trimac can work your way into $100K+ in their Elite Fleet after 24 months experience.

As usual, Chinatown to the rescue with his overwhelming knowledge of potential companies for new drivers!

In fairness to FFE, they do offer excellent training, but lots more money in tankers.

There's several other companies that will train you, but not sure about home time; each company has their own home time policy. Those tankers run lots of I-10.

    Evergreen Transport
    Earl Henderson Trucking
    Southern Refrigerated Transport
    Celadon
    Conway

Thanks - Silly question here, could you or anyone please explain what this means ( not 100% sure ) :

"The second option is to lease a truck directly from MCT. And the final option is to work with one of the smaller owner operator fleets and drive for them as a company driver. MCT will handle all of the arrangements but you will drive equipment owned by an owner operator or lease operator."
