I'm seriously considering returning to the trucking industry after a small hiatus and want to make the right choice of who to join. I was with Swift originally so there is something to be said for knowing their system. I've always talked about Crete but unsure about the company's freight and equipment. JB Hunt seems to have many different positions, but I would expect that out of most of the larger carriers. I like the freedom of OTR but being dedicated has a certain appeal. Aside from sounding like a whiny indecisive pain, any advice? Almost forgot to add, I have just over a year of experience with a clean record. .
Not exactly a newbie

Where do you live?
Why did you quit Swift after less than one year?
"....Crete but unsure about the company's freight and equipment....." What issues do you have with their freight? With their equipment? I left there nine years ago after working there for two years. I had no issues with the freight or equipment other than they took a new truck away from me that I drove until it had 150,000 miles on it. -
I live in Boston MA. I left to try something new I've always wanted to do. I don't have issues with the equipment or freight at Crete it's just I don't know anything about it and I'm skeptical of recruiters numbers. Do they have sustainable freight and how are the trucks, for instance.

The company has no debt, therefore they are financially strong. When I was there they kept trucks around 4 years and were gone before 500,000 miles. Not a lot of options on the truck but they are well maintained. It was a great place for me to get two years of experience and I have no regrets about starting there but I don't know what they are like today.

Anything special about the trucks as far as additional equipment, APUs for instance? What is the idle policy with summer coming?
-
Apu's in some, opti-idle in some. Keep idle under 20 percent I believe. The new Cascadia has a 1200 Watt inverter but older trucks don't. You can buy a fridge to install. I use a cooler. Basic trucks. Best rider policy and good pet policy.

I'd have to go prostar for the extra bed or am I misinformed about the cascadia?

Crete and Swift installing driver facing cameras.
Freymiller has a good reputation and has a program to get drivers back on the road.
