    Hi everyone

    I've been wanting to join a starter company for some time now..being OTR has always been a dream job of mine.
    I've been researching a lot and con-way seems to have the happiest drivers in comparison to swift, roehl, CRE, etc...
    Con-way requires HAZMAT cert. within 120 days of hire. I'd rather knock it out immediately when getting my CDL (why wait)

    ..now to my point:
    when i was 17 i was a complete fool and was arrested/charged with felony transporting hash over 28 grams w/intent to sell. I know, i know......
    When my court fiasco was over, the judge said he would drop the charges from a felony transporting to misdemeanor possession of over 30 grams. (this all happened in California, btw)
    Since i never saw my record, i decided to get a livescan/fingerprint a couple weeks ago to see everything and anything on my 'rap sheet'. (I'm 21 now, and have no adult record)
    to my amazement, my charges were completely DROPPED. they never told me that. it says specifically "Case DISM and DISCH in furtherance of justice". I expected to see the misdemeanor there, but it wasn't.

    So;
    can i get an HME with that arrest still on my record? It clearly shows dismissed, but it's still on there..
    also, aside from HME, some companies require transport into canada. apparently canada uses INTERPOL records to check up on drivers upon hiring (not sure if this is true, just read it on a few places online). and anything on my record, whether sealed or not, will appear in INTERPOL. that might automatically disqualify me from other companies regardless of hazmat.

    I want to be sure there will be the least amount of issues upon finding a job, because i have a steady job as it is and don't want to leave it for nothing. I just hate the environment (been working at a desk for a few years, i'm not meant to be here)

    (and please keep the 'you're an idiot' to yourselves...i'm well aware i screwed up. :'C im just glad it happened at 17 and not 18.)

    Being that you were under the age of 18 I'd say you are good. If you have a clean driving record and have had a a good work history you should be employable. There are felons out on the road, most have been straightened up for ten or so years but they are out there. In trucking a DUI can look worse than an old felony in some cases. Don't sell any more hashish man. lol.

    Still curious whether the TSA will reject me for a hazmat though.

    if you were arrestedl and charged as a juvenile, your record will be sealed and Not public. Sounds like you were arrested as a juvenile but charged as an adult. If charges were dropped or you were found not guilty, then you can actually have it expunged from your record. I suggest you contact the court in the area where you were arrested and ask them how to get the charges expunged good luck

    Convicted felons and ex-cons can get hazmat. Apply for hazmat and you'll get the answer you're looking for.
