Hello all, recent grad trying to decide which company to work for. Got offered a position with both Cypress and CCC/CTL out of the Tampa, FL area. May i have some ins and outs about both companies please? Thanks in advance

I worked for Commercial Carrier Transportation in 2006-2011. They changed to CCC and they haul mostly cement. It used to be a good company to learn flatbed, vans, pneumatic tanker but it has slowed down after the housing crises of 2008. If you start with them, you will see $435 a week and now they are electronic log company. CTL is their chemical company hauling Molten Solphur to the mines in Mulberry and plant city. Dillon took all of their accounts. If you decide to star and stay with CCC, (more work than CTL) you can get experience, if I were you and you wanted to do tankers, I'll go with Dillon. New equipment and they promote $1,000 a week but you would start night shift. Cypress is a Jacksonville company in the flatbed division. Their trucks always break down but they seem to be busy and I heard they fire you for any mistake. If I were you, I'll go with CTL, that's your training and after a year, join Dillon.

I'd choose CTL and run OTR. A year with them and you can go about anywhere to hazmat tankers.
Read that Cypress is starting to purchase new Peterbilt's to replace the old tractors.Last edited: Apr 27, 2015

I dunno lol. Cypress has a pretty bad rep in Florida. I lived 1/4 mile from their yard in Tampa and I was looking for a change, but would not even consider them.
Their yard even looks bad on google earth, you scroll in and see a cemetery of old bobtails that are being picked over for spare parts to keep the older stuff rolling.
But heck, I dunno. I have never driven for them. So I will save the input lol.
It is funny though. Go on google and search Cypress Trucking Tampa, and get the earth view of the yard. It is a few years old, maybe they cleaned up. But it is still funny. Sad, but funny.
Just watch their training. I have read about guys going to them and doing training in the yard for securement and tarping for a few weeks and little pay. Then they never seem to have trucks for them. -
Would you mind posting their pay plans for others here? (Or PM me the info?)

What specifically is wrong with CCC?
What was your experience there?
If you know, how many new hires do they keep after six months and one year?

Does Dillon hire new CDL graduates?
If yes, what is their training pay? How long is their training?
What is their pay after training?
