For all drivers new and for those of us who've been in or around the industry for a good long time, we've all heard folklore about the he'll hound, black dog, or what ever you refer to this omen as...
As a my first post, I would like to ask for REAL LIFE STORIES, not what you may of heard or think, but any one out there who may of seen the devils companion, the black dog with red eyes, long yellow k9s looking a bit over grown and knotted and mangled black hair, and came with a stinch that would make suffer smell as good as a blooming jasmine vine, I would like to hear your story.

    My experience was this:

It was half past three on the Kilpatrick turnpike headed nw out of the big OK, twords pa. Darkest night I've ever driven through. My sleeping schedule was somewhat screwed seeing how my day had gone and given those #### e logs I had to keep moving to stay on schedule. A few flashes of lightning strike up overhead and it starts to rain real bad. Loaded down with 44000 lbs of freight with a gvw of 78990 lbs, I still find it hard to keep off the lines with the wind blowing as bad as it was. Thunders rolling and lightning is crashing every few seconds. My 2012 Pete 587 has some sorry headlights, hard to see when roads are dry and #### near impossible in heavy rain. It was dark, light flashed and my eyes started feeling like stone. Doing about 45, cause that's about all I felt comfortable with given the circumstances, ninth gear screaming down the ol kp tpk, light flashed again and then the smell came. Thought I was passing a refinery so didn't think much of it. Thunder rolled and light flashed again and a small minuscule figure stood there in the road. Coming through aa construction zone I slowed to about 35, Carolina cowboy, another friend of mine watching my back door, came over the cb just as another flash stuck in the woods about 10 yards out. I blinked for a second while reaching for my mic and as quick as water hit the windshield, I opened my eyes and seen the beast, red eyes and yellow teeth, long mangled black hair, and a growl that you couldn't of imagined in your worst night mare, like the devil himself, he stood on the Hood of my truck, looking me straight in the eyes, his growl in my ears as if to hear nothing else. Call it a miracle of God but the only thing I remember after that encounter was waking up in my bed at a service plaza.

I've heard my dad tell me stories of the dog but I always thought he was just trying to scare me out of driving trucks. Drivers beware the black dog, his paw prints and a terrifying memory is all it left behind.

I've had encounters with the Devil, but never with a dog.
It eventually led me to design my avatar, by the way.

    Strange things happen.

Yes they do, sometimes it's better to just accept what's happened rather to ask why or wonder

    That's funny.

    I wanted to know.
    I mean, to REALLY know!
    And I got it.
And that is where my avatar comes from.
What Love is, what the Soul is... what the Universe and Life is all about.

But in the end it seems to have bit me in the backside.

Sometimes, especially with 'meaning of Life' stuff, ignorance is really the bliss you really want and need.

I put it like this, ignorance is the bliss that leads to happiness. I live a simple life, I wake up, eat, workout, drive, eat workout, shower then sleep and repeat. With or with out us or life in general, this rock named earth, is still here. Everything keeps spinning and things go on. With or without us, that's reality. Why not enjoy the time you have and be happy.

Sometimes I wish I could go back to those days.

On the other hand, how good is ignorant bliss if it leaves you ###### for all future time?
I'm pretty sure that one word will be censored, even though it is accurate and non-offensive if taken in context.

Shouldn't we want to know as much as possible about the world we live in?
    Both physical and spiritual?

Well, unless you believe that we are purely physical beings.
If that is the case, then we are simply a lump of stuff that has no meaning in any sense. We come, we go, we die.
    Nothing before, during or after.

If ignorance is the bliss that leads to happiness, then I wish you a vey unhappy life.
Or a very happy one, if that is truly your wish.

    Me?
I would rather be happy in my unhappiness of non-ignorance.
