When the shortage gets here let me know?
2Girls_1Truck, flood, lfod14 and 6 others Thank this. -
The shortage must be getting critical. 50 cpm is getting easier to find for OTR, sign-on bonuses are bigger than ever, experience requirements are dropping, more companies offering minimum pay guarantees and higher tier companies are starting to do their own training.
There is a lot to make us optimistic. If anyone is getting low pay or bad treatment, this is a great time to find a better job. -
Any company can raise the pay.
question here though, are the miles still the same, or more, or cut back?
Someone just said, believe it when you see it, till then, best rumors lay still or are great truck stop counter BS'ing the newbsRaiderfanatic, Toomanybikes and tow614 Thank this. -
The mega-crap trucking companies have been lying about a 'driver shortage' for decades, and like all good lier's some have come to believe their own BS.
People are still climbing in to truck cabs at poverty wages. People still live in their trucks despite working 14 hours a day. Drivers still work for free at customers dock. Drivers still 'donate' their time and work to the company for no pay. Cent per a mile pay with no overtime still rules.
The only reason you see a slight hiccup in wages is that the mega-mega, Swift, had to bump up pay to compensate for its crappy internal policies that were instituted after elogs were enacted. They lost drivers in droves due to exceeding low miles. Now everybody is worried that they might loose prospective drivers to Swift since they have to offer a few cents more to offset the low miles their drivers now get.074344 Thanks this. -
swift doing another one this month. keep forgetting to talk to my dl about the details
Toomanybikes Thanks this. -
Never was or is a driver shortage just carrier with too many trucks and looking for drivers to work for low pay,if there was a driver shortage the hauling rates would go up..met a driver today driving for May Trucking out of Oregon he is getting 35cnts/mile and a truck set at 61mph,,
There are companies that pay 45 to 52cnts/mile like Crete and Hartland but they pay using House Hold Guide miles,,A friend at Hartland drives about 140,000 miles a year and gets paid for about 130,000 miles, like working at WalMart 9 hours and getting paid for only 8 hrs,,Clamhammer and tow614 Thank this. -
The debate continues...But here's one that's finally settled:
