trying to figure out the logic behind this.

Last week I del. a load at the wal-mart dc in opelika al.9:15 am app.Was u/l by 10:30 and got a load ###. at 1;30pm a p/u at the michelin plant in dothan al.P/u was sch. for 7;00pm showed up early and was gone by 4;45pm.Now my 14 had started at 7;15am so I drove to mossy head fla. to the t/s arrived at 6;30pm.My app.was to del.at 10;00 the following night and this was a "time sensitive load"which meant it could'nt be late. But it could'nt be early either{called the consignee}.So I figured if I left when my 10 hr.break was over at 4;30am I would arrive in houston{the dest.}to early and my 14 would be over.So I decided to wait until 8;30to leave knowing I would arrive 2.5 hrs. early and still have dr.and some of my 14 left to find parking for the night.Well at noon when I was app.7 hrs away my disp.q/comms me and said I was going to be late and i was to divert north on i/55 to amite on ex.46 to switch loads with another drv.I called her and asked why,she said her boss had said I was running late and she was'nt going to argue with her superior and I should'nt argue with mine,ie her.I tried to exp.why I left when I did but I guess she did'nt understand. So anyway I diverted the 30 min.north arrived at the t/s in amite theres the truck but the dr.is in the casino[he's a trainer]I drop my trl. and wait.He comes out I belly-ache to him about the sit. and tell him the load has to be in houston at 10;00,he tells me they've given him till 12;00 mid.[somehow this TIME-SENS.LOAD was adjustible but not for me]then I find out his loads going to Laredo!I will pass thru houst. on my way!So I drive till my hours run out and stop in baytown tx at 8;45pm 20 m.from where I was to del. the previus load,if I had'nt had the 1.5hr delay reloading I would have arrived even earlier than I had figured.Go figure I guess this is the way USA operates but I still can't figure out the logic, being told I'm late 10hrs. before del. time. She told me later that they've had an increase in late del.because of drv.taking to long of abreak beyond the 10.So now when my 10s over I'm heading out and not thinking any more guess I'm not paid for that and when my hours run out and I'm 20 m.from del. they'll have to reload me to get it del.

There is a method to the madness....believe it or not.

The prefered method by "management" is to lie to the driver. It's much easier than telling the truth. And it cuts down on the arguements with drivers.

Most likely, this load was reassigned to get the other driver where he needed to be, when he needed to be there. I'm sure that it wouldn't have affected you, nor upset you, had they told you that. But that's common practice with some companies to just flat out lie about these things. SRT and Covenant are famous for this BS!

That may not have been the issue here. But I would bet good money on it.

And you picked up a few more miles I'm begging for a Laredo load ... I want a short vacation

they've got I-35 about as screwed up as they could possibly get it right now. exit 13, where the T/S are, is accessable s/b but not north. some of the frontage roads are open, some are one way, some are two way.

plus the load I had went to a Mervyn's, the dock was on the front side of the store. you had to fight mall traffic and parking to back in. who ever designed that fiasco should be shot!

I was glad to get outta there.
