Check 'em out on the web

Roehl has a website out there. That site more than likely lists all their terminal locations. Crete does, I do know that. These two companies are pretty good to work for, by the way.

It means she's slow
It's a typical company truck
It's just all show and no go

I'm gettin' passed by Yella
And even Overnite
I'm gettin' passed by ever' body in sight
46 days on the road
And I'm not gettin' home tonight

No, my hometown's nowhere in sight
And if you think I'm pissed off
You're right
46 days on the road
And I'm not gettin' home tonight

Love pissing off those trucking company insiders.

ok so I don't mean to sound like a total idiot but I am not in the industry and have been doing some reasearch but with the picture in the previous post does that mean that all of the yellow dots are their different terminals??

Thanks for the PM with the terminal map, I have a question though, what is a drop yard? What is the difference between a terminal and a drop yard? Thanks!

Terminal probably has fuel, shower(s) such as they are, offices, driver lounge and vending machines, repair shop and who knows what all.

A drop lot is a secure or not yard where you can drop and hook trailers (relay type of thing)

Brick called it

Brick called it. Of course he called it. A drop yard may be a place with a guard shack and a guard on duty 24/7. It may also be like a SwiftQuit yard I remember going to once in New York State. This yard didn't even have a fence or night lighting. When I went there, I picked up a load of beer that had been sitting for four days. It didn't have a lock on it, either. It just had a special lock-type seal. But it was all there.

So, for example, you wouldn't go to a drop yard to start your 2 weeks on the road. You would have to go to a terminal, I am just wondering because there is a Roehl drop yard near the cities and I live near the cities (when not in fargo for school) and i see the nearest terminal is in wisconsin so I was just trying to figure out if I would have to go there if I worked for Roehl to get "started" on a trip...does any of this make sense to you guys??

To start with a new company you will go to the companies main terminal for orientation (or the closest terminal to your home if they condut orientation classes there). This will be 1 to 3 days traditionally. You will be put in a local motel each day, driven back and forth from the motel to the terminal, usually fed lunch while at the terminal, and finally assigned to a truck after completing orientation. You will be paid with a check at this point for the time spent in orientation. Usually the company will attempt to route you back through your home town so you may grab your gear and load it into the truck. From that point on you may have to drop your trailer at the drop lot close to your home (and park your truck there as well but it depends on the companies policy) before bobtailing to your house (or you may park your personal vehicle at the drop lot and just go home from there) . This way the load may be repowered if necessary and is in a secure location so theft will be more difficult.
