Husband & Wife need advice! My hubby and I are looking forward to joining the ranks within the FINE trucking community! However we have a couple of questions. We have settled on Interstate Dist. is this a good co. for teams to work for? Will They really train us together? I have read several times about not signing contracts! Is this really such a terriable way to go. We are considering the contract as a means to save some cash! Any advice out there for a couple of wannabes? Thanks a lot God Bless you all out there! 2Ironheads I don't know much about Interstate, but signing a contract with any company is a bad idea. There are just way too many unknowns to say that you'll be with that company for the term of the contract. My advice to anyone getting into trucking is always to get your Class A permit on your own, and then find a good trucking school near your home (private or community college). Some schools even require you to show up with your permit in hand on the first day of school. You'll have a clearer conscience, less stress, and the freedom to move on to a better company if you pay for your own schooling. Talk to some program coordinators in your area about your plans. You may be surprised by what they can offer you in terms of financial aid or grants should you need them. Good luck!
