Milage pay

What's the difference between practical miles and Rand Mcnally miles? Can you put a percent difference on them?
Thanks in advance for any information

If there is a way of putting a percentage difference on them, I am not aware of it. Probably someone else will be though.

Atlas miles are just another way of not paying the driver for all the miles they drive. But a lot of OTR companies pay this way. They usually will not detail your route for you if they pay this way.

The companies that pay by the truck mile will often tell you exactly how they want you to go, to get there. As a personal choice, I'd take a few cents less, and figure out what roads I want to drive. . .

But then I've never minded being told where to go. I just don't like being told how to get there.

specifics

I will complete my training in two days. I'm very interested in flatbed and have narrowed myself to three companies. They pay different so the choice is hard. TMC pays percent of the load, Roehl pays .32 per practical mile empty or loaded, and Maverick pays .35 rand Mcnally loaded or empty. How can I pick the best paying company? Reputation, pay, benefits as well as miles per week are given by the recruiter and these companies seem the same in all those category's. Is one company better then the others that pay doesn't matter?
Thanks again for any advice

Pc Miler practical miles will pay more than Rand McNally miles. About a 3% difference. Pc miler will route around major cities and take bypasses around town while Rand McNally measures shortest route. They both pay less than actual "hub miles" so be aware you will be driving anywhere from 5 to 10% more miles than you will be compensated for. It all depends on the routes you choose.
